The flood of poetry
José Ángel Marín, Director of the Cultural Foundation, University of Jaen.
Gazing at Carme Riera’s work you see that what appears in them is fixed in a fold, in an edge of tinfoil covered by oil, acid or wax., all good examples; but for those who decide to delve into primal feelings her “Déus de la Terra” (Gods from the Earth) become atavistic.
Riera’s books objects are like fragments of life, considered as an artistic element placed between what is mystic or ironic , Here again her logic in the materials she uses is a jet of images.
These outstanding works both disturbing and conjuring, in their interrelation between historical representations and different objects, show also another of her aims in displaying the intrinsic importance of the concept through its object.
Carme creates artistic intersections. As, for example, the one she offers us in her never heard of poetry in tinplate.
